Dana White’s newfound obsession with “Power Slap,” the online reality TV series he and Lorenzo Fertitta launched in January, has taken on a life of its own.
White, who has been the president of the UFC since 2001, had a vision of Power Slap’s social media success and international appeal upon its initial launch. After two events, the conversations about who would win have run deeper, reaching different sports and eras.
Dana White was asked in an interview with Barstool’s Robbie Fox Monday night about who would come out on top in a hypothetical match-up between former Chicago Bulls great Michael Jordan and current Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, two of NBAthe best of their generation.
Despite being a Celtics fan, White showed no hesitation about his breakdown, he said.
“Michael Jordan [would win]White said. “Listen, I respect LeBron and what he’s done and who he is as an athlete. Never in trouble. Always there for the games. It makes a big difference when he’s on a team. You feel the difference when he’s on a team. But Jordan is all my time.” [favorite player]. And I’m a Celtics guy, but Jordan fought. Jordan is a killer.”
While a slaps-and-slap battle between the two will never happen, it does make it clear that an argument between different players of the same position or caliber in different eras will always be compared, no matter what sensual nature it may bring.
Dana White has also broken up a few others, including Rocky vs. Apollo and Dave Portnoy vs.
Although it has its detractors, the Power Slap continues to move forward, with White revealing that the promotion’s third installment will take place on July 7 at UFC APEX as an appetizer to UFC 290 the following night at T-Mobile Arena. The event headlined Aleksander Volkanovski and Yair Rodriguez for the featherweight title.
