VANCOUVER — No one looks at UFC featherweight Dan Egg’s fight against Nate Landwehr expecting a dull fight, and he knows it’s going to be a gunfight once he steps into the octagon at UFC 289 on Saturday night.
“He’s a great opponent. Nate’s a guy with a lot of experience. He’s got belts, he’s had five rounds in other promotions, and I’m honestly looking forward to the fight,” Egg told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.
“It’s going to be an exciting fight. It’s almost impossible for it to be a boring fight.”
If there’s a fight no one should miss, it’s this one with two men who are hell-bent on winning whether it’s a technical match or a full-on brawl as long as it lasts.
“It should be fireworks. I’m well prepared, I know he’s well prepared. He sacrificed a lot. I sacrificed a lot. The only thing we don’t have left is to fight on Saturday night,” he said.
Ige was hoping for higher ranked opponents as he looked for a way up the rankings, and into the title picture. Even without a top 5 opponent, he knows his fights will still be exciting no matter who is up against him.
“Every fight I get to get into is going to be an exciting fight. Just the way my style is, the way Nate has it… He brings it into every fight and so do I.”
“In terms of the ratings now, I’m honestly really trying to get out there and rebuild myself, rebuild my name, rebuild my brand. If I go out and fight No. 4 and win, wow, big deal. I’m not going to win a title right away. I’m all about winning.” And achieve those victories.”
