Cowboys’ Jake Ferguson is Dak Prescott’s new security blanket – Todd Archer, ESPN.com
The chemistry between Prescott and Ferguson continues to grow.
Seattle Seahawks safety Quandre Diggs made sure to let Jake Ferguson know about the hit he just laid on the Dallas Cowboys’ tight end in the third quarter of Thursday’s game at AT&T Stadium.
For the briefest of moments, Ferguson had to collect himself, but as soon as he could, he got up and made a first-down signal in Diggs’ face after picking up 14 yards on a second-and-13 play that eventually led to a Tony Pollard touchdown.
After Diggs yapped, fellow safety Jamal Adams began pointing at Ferguson and eventually the two were facemask to facemask before they were separated by teammates.
“Just letting them know I got the first down,” Ferguson said. “You can talk all you want.”
In the fourth quarter, trailing, 35-30, Ferguson was matched up against Adams on second-and-7 at the Seattle 12-yard line. Quarterback Dak Prescott made a quick hitch, Ferguson jumped inside to create room from Adams and scored the eventual game-winning touchdown with 4:37 left to play.
Quickly, Ferguson stared down Adams and went with a loud spike to celebrate.
“He’s a baller,” Prescott said. “His mentality, first and foremost, is why he is the guy that he is and having the success that he has.”
Why Jerry Jones believes the Dak Prescott-led Dallas Cowboys can beat Eagles and 49ers – Clarence Hill Jr., Fort Worth Star-Telegram
The Cowboys are right up there with the best in the NFC.
Can they overcome a 49ers team that walloped them in October after knocking them out of the playoffs in each of the last two seasons?
And can they beat an Eagles team still leads in the NFC East and were Super Bowl runner ups a year ago?
Owner Jerry Jones has an unequivocal answer on both. And it’s a resounding yes based on the MVP-caliber play of quarterback Dak Prescott of late.
“Do I think we have a chance to beat either one of those teams when we play them? Absolutely I do. Absolutely we can. I think we have an outstanding chance here Sunday against Philadelphia. I think it won’t be the same game when we play any of these teams a second time. It never is,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan. “But do I expect an NFL war to over exaggerate, yes I do. Because both San Francisco and Philadelphia have got outstanding players. They’ve got great coaching. But, guys, we do, too.”
Again, Jones points to play of the Prescott that puts the Cowboys over the top.
Prescott is the highest ranked quarterback in the NFL, Pro Football Focus. He leads the NFL in touchdown passes with 26. He is second in completion percentage and second in quarterback rating.
And nobody has been better over the last seven games. Prescott has a passer rating of 121.5 with 2,173 yards, 21 touchdowns and 2 interceptions during that span, putting him at the top of the MVP conversation.
Dallas Cowboys Give the Gift of Happiness to Children in Local Hospitals This Holiday Season – Jess Nevarez, Pro Football Network
The Cowboys continue to give back in a truly special way during the holiday season.
The team visited multiple hospitals across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, all thanks to an event that UnitedHealthcare sponsored.
The organization spent the morning at Scottish Rite for Children, Medical City Children’s Hospital, Children’s Health in Dallas, and Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth.
This is a long-standing, 34-year-old tradition led every year by Mrs. Gene Jones. During the visits, each kid received a stocking gift bag loaded with goodies from the Cowboys. The players also partake in individual room visits, play games, and, of course, sign plenty of autographs for the kids and their families.
Cowboys Players Reflect On Meeting Young Fans
WR Brandin Cooks attended the Scottish Rite for Children event and even visited some kids in their rooms. This was Cooks’ first time participating in this event, and he says it was a special day for him to spend time with the kids.
“It’s a blessing, right? Anytime you can bring light to someone’s day, that’s what it’s all about — especially during this time of the year. You come in, and they almost forget they’re in the hospital,” said Cooks.
Cooks says events like this put everything into perspective for him — especially being a father himself.
Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland shrugs off blip in historic season as Eagles await – Schuyler Dixon, AP News
Even though DaRon Bland struggled in the first half last week, he’s ready for Philadelphia.
One thing about Bland, he bounced back from getting burned for 107 yards in the first quarter by Seattle’s D.K. Metcalf to getting his NFL-leading eighth interception in the second half.
And another thing about the league’s new record holder for interception returns for a touchdown in a season with five, Bland probably never worried much about it in the first place.
The unheralded 2022 fifth-round pick out of Fresno State didn’t change his low-key persona as the pick-6s piled up.
Bland also wasn’t flustered much when the Cowboys decided to keep veteran Stephon Gilmore on Metcalf after Bland’s early struggles in the 41-35 victory over the Seahawks last week.
“I probably wouldn’t have done that,” defensive coordinator Dan Quinn said, “if I was worried about how somebody would react to it.”
The penchant for interceptions didn’t start when Bland grabbed a fluttering ball and ran 22 yards for a score after a hit by Trevon Diggs on New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley in the opener.
Bland led the Cowboys with five interceptions as a rookie last season, and he’s the only player with at least 10 since he entered the league. Bland has 13.
