Tyler Smith plans to be “comfortable in both spots” – Nick Eatman, DallasCowboys.com
A Cowboys sophomore will need to be ready in two positions, and he says he’s good at it.
“It can’t (it’s),” Smith said this week at a youth soccer camp in Etoile. “The best thing for me — Zach (Martin) talked about last year — is being comfortable in both places. I feel like I had those reps last year, being in those positions last year where I switched back and forth, it really helped me as a player.”
Last season, Smith was mostly at left tackle during the off-season, but don’t forget he’s been around for most of the offseason, battling with Conor McGovern for the starting job. It wasn’t until Tyrone Smith suffered a severe hamstring injury that required surgery that placed Tyler Smith at left tackle just before the seasons began.
And then when Tyron Smith came back in December, he went to right tackle, but there were times when the Cowboys would slide Tyler Smith to left guard just because he prepared for all eventualities.
“Being exposed to those high-stress situations where you may not have been in or used to, but it’s nice to be able to adjust to that sudden change,” said Smith. “That might be the difference in losing by one and winning by one. That is the most important thing.”
Dorrance Armstrong hopes to continue her career in 2022 – Sharan Williams, ProFootballTalk
Armstrong had his best year last year, and now he’s looking for more.
DeMarcus Lawrence makes the most money among the running backs of the Cowboys. Micah Parsons gets the most publicity.
But Dorance Armstrong has quietly become an important cog in the Dallas defense.
Armstrong’s career-high 8.5 sacks last season ranked second on the team behind Parsons’ just 13.5. He also totaled 16 quarterback hits, 12 tackles for loss and a forced fumble.
“It’s been one of the best seasons of my career so far,” Armstrong said this weekend at a youth soccer camp, via KPRC’s Aaron Wilson. “I’m looking forward to coming back better and stronger.”
The Cowboys know how much Armstrong means to their defense after he rewarded the former fourth-round pick with a two-year, $13 million contract a year ago.

We knew him as Ryan Russell when he was a player for the Cowboys.

Author, Lawyer, Former NFL Player
RK Russell, the first NFL player to publicly come out as intersex, has been an advocate for LGBTQ inclusion for years. This spring, he published a memoir of his life, in which he delves in detail about his grief, his struggles as a closeted black man, and ultimately, how he found joy. “For marginalized people, especially young black people, I want them to feel not only that they are not alone, but that they can do anything,” Russell said in an interview earlier this year. Now living his dream as a creative artist in Los Angeles, Russell shows that’s the case. Alex Reimer

The drafted linebacker is already making a name for himself.
Cb Eric Scott Jr.
The rookie sixth-round pick has successfully tackled first-team defense during the offseason with Trayvon Diggs in and out of training and Nahshon Wright dealing with a minor knee problem. Scott impressed defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.
“When you see a guy want a go-to-competition moment, like, you know, I clench my fist and say, ‘I’m not leaving here,’ that’s what I’m looking for specifically for beginners,” Quinn said. “That kind of mentality and attitude is really what a young player needs to assert himself in these moments because that responsibility is really to say, ‘Hey, man, can we count on you when you’re there?'” They learn to do that early on, and that’s a big problem, knowing it’s like the amount of work that goes into saying, ‘I’m up for this challenge.’ I’ve seen that from Eric so far.” – Todd Archer
Report: Cowboys not interested in reuniting with three-time Pro Bowler – Clark Dalton, Yardparker
A reunion with Zeke seems less likely.
The Cowboys began closing the door on a potential meeting with running back Ezekiel Elliott.
“I went back to one of my sources today and was told bluntly that they weren’t thinking about it [re-signing Elliott]Gene Slater from NFL Network Monday said on “NFL Total Access.” “When I asked if there was a situation where they could bring him back, it sounded like the same answer I got from a number of teams. It would basically take another hit to someone else from the RBs.”
Dallas and other teams probably don’t want to re-sign Elliott, who was released in March, because he’s seen as a falling player. In 15 games last season, he rushed for 876 yards on 231 attempts (3.8 yards per carry). The 27-year-old also hasn’t made a game Pro Bowl Since 2019.
The Cowboys actually got a promotion at RB1 after the emergence of Tony Pollard. The 25-year-old rushed for a career-high 1,007 yards in 16 games and made his first Pro Bowl last season. Although Elliott complemented Pollard as a solid RB2, Dallas has young and interesting prospects, like Deuce Vaughn, who could fill the role.
Vaughn, a sixth-round pick (212th overall) in 2023 NFL Draft, impress quarterback Dak Prescott. “I think he will be a talented player who can help us right away.” Prescott said recently From 21 years old via The Dallas Morning News.
