Tony Pollard signing deadline: How much should the Cowboys offer? – Mike Fisher, Fanation
What is the right price for Tony Pollard’s contract?
Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard is The Star for at least one more season, and the Pro Bowl has signed the franchise to the franchise this spring. But now more steps and more signs are coming…as the clock is ticking as to Pollard’s long-term stay in Dallas.
Definitely Pollard’s additional desire is a long-term contract with Dallas. And the Cowboys aren’t in the business of letting Pro Bowl talent get away. But NFL teams have until July 17 to sign featured players to long-term deals. So while we know both sides have “touched base” – negotiations of some sort at least – what we’re about to find out comes down to three things…
1 – What do the Cowboys, who experienced the failure to recognize “retreat depreciation” through their mega-contract Ezekiel Elliott, think about paying the amounts owed now?
2- What do the Cowboys think of their backup stable of Pollard? If Malik Davis, Ronald Jones, Rico Doodle, Deuce Von or Hunter Lubbeck can play a pivotal role in Dallas’ future for 2024 and beyond way back – each of them does so at a tenth of the cost of Pollard – why not let Pollard be one and then flip the page?
3 – While he does not deny Pollard’s talent, how much does he want to “bet himself”? If Dallas doesn’t lose the salary Bullard wants in the coming days, will he have any deal on the table (especially assuming the guaranteed money is attractive) or will he hit the market with enthusiasm next spring believing he’s making a $10 million APY return?
Terrence Steele’s unknown future looms large for the Cowboys – Red Hanson, Cowboys and Wire
Should the franchise roll the dice on a stretch before the price goes up?
Predicting the future in the NFL is never an easy task. Teams have strategies they don’t always share, players have ambitions they don’t advertise, coaches have biases, competition is unpredictable, and external factors always come into play.
For the most part, the Cowboys seem to have a good handle on various situations across the roster. They seem set on re-signing top players such as Dak Prescott, Trayvon Diggs, Sir Lamb and Micah Parsons. The exact terms are unknown, but most would agree that Dallas would cut deals with them, one way or another.
Terence Steele’s future isn’t entirely clear.
Right tackle the Cowboys were having a career season in 2022 until an ACL injury brought him to an abrupt hiatus. His absence from the lineup had massive effects on the Dallas running game and established Steele’s value almost immediately.
Steele, a restricted free agent last March, was awarded a second round bid to remain in Dallas for the 2023 season. Recovering from a major knee injury and slated to be an unrestricted free agent in 2024, Steele’s uncertain future looms large.
Cowboys Players Who Won’t Live Up To The Hype In The 2023 Season – Alex Ballentine, Bleacher Report
The hype train rising for two is too loud now?
Every team has players that progress through the season. They also have a few things that fall short of the fans and coaches’ expectations early in the season for them.
Here’s a look at three players who may not live up to expectations in Dallas this season.
OT Tyrone Smith
Tyron Smith has been a pillar of the Cowboys offense for a long time but father time comes for everyone and he is undefeated.
For Smith, the signs of aging and declining were showing a few years ago. Smith has only played in 17 regular season games over the past three years due to various injuries.
TE Luke cleaner
A second-round draft pick comes with a certain set of expectations. While first-round draft picks are generally expected to be the starters for Day 1, second-round draft picks are expected to contribute early and eventually make their way into the starting role.
This is especially true when the second-round pick plays a position with an unstable depth chart.
Rp Duos Phone
It’s easy to fall in love with Deuce Vaughn as a player. It was fun to watch Kansas State And who wouldn’t want to see a 5’5″, 179-pound guy make an impact in the league?”
It’s easy to look at Vaughn, see his diminutive stature and K-State jersey and immediately think of Darren Sproles.
This free agent tight end could bring some veteran leadership to the unit — Jermaine Arvey, inside star
An experienced professional in this position would be a welcome sight for an inexperienced group as currently assembled.
Mercedes Lewis will bring a skill set to Dallas
Mercedes Lewis long in age He is no longer a spring chicken and years of being Jacksonville JaguarsFirst round pick.
You could argue that it would be a progress blocker.
Why take a guy out for a year to take shots away from small guns?
it is easy. There are a lot of unknowns with tight ends on the list.
by all accounts, Jake Ferguson It will be the beginning of the first day unless something strange or unexpected happens on it Boot camp.
A combination of Peyton Hendershot And cleaner look Will wrestle for the backup role.
There is no denying his ability to continue blocking
In his last year with Green Bay, Lewis caught 256 catches, and Focus on professional football giving him a rating of 66.6 in blocking.
For someone his age, that’s pretty cool.
Can you imagine a 6’6 270lb player who isn’t as athletic as he once was but is still better than most backup linemen coming off the slopes to block?
I can see it. The movement of people will be a cultural signature and should point Dallas in the right direction.
