The Cowboys receive surprising news regarding an All-Pro Zack Martin – Mario Herrera Jr. Championship. Inside the Star
When things were quiet on the news front, this situation came out and it’s not ideal.
As reported by ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Dallas Cowboys All-Pro G Zach Martin considers going underreporting at training camp.
Martin is said to be unhappy with his contract and the Cowboys’ lack of interest in restructuring him to match his field value.
He believes that he is “paid very low compared to the market”.
The six-time All-Pro is currently on a 6-year/$84 million contract that he signed in 2018.
At the time, that made Martin the highest-paid goaltender in the league and the richest contract in the league date for this position.
Now five years later, Martin is currently the 8th highest paid guard in the NFL.
These are the players who top Martin’s average annual salary of $14 million.
Chris Lindstrom Atlanta Falcons$20.5 million
Quinton Nelson, Indianapolis Colts$20 million
Elton Jenkins, Green Bay Packers$17 million
Brandon Scherff, Jacksonville Jaguars$16.5 million
Joel Petonio Cleveland Browns$16 million
Joe Thuney Kansas City Chiefs$16 million
White Teller, Cleveland Browns, $14.2 million
The Cowboys’ top contract extension priorities entering training camp – Alex Ballentine, Bleacher Report
Who should get a new contract first?
The deadline for a franchise tag contract extension came and went without the Dallas Cowboys asking Tony Pollard to a multi-year deal.
In a vacuum, it’s a frustrating step. They finally hand the keys to Pollard on the court after Ezekiel Elliott is released and out of his onerous contract.
With more important pieces to the Cowboys puzzle, they should focus on extending it rather than getting their star back.
WR CeeDee Lamb
While the tailback market has become stagnant across the league, wide receiver contracts are only increasing.
Lamb shouldn’t be getting as much money as Jefferson. He made Lamb Pro Bowl twice, but Jefferson is the first pro with over 1,800 yards receiving.
However, the Cowboys better get a new contract with Lamb before the Vikings fulfill their contract with Jefferson. His contract will likely set a new bar and Lamb will want a percentage of that contract.
QB Dak Prescott
There’s a big caveat to Dak Prescott signing an extension that makes CeeDee Lamb a little more important. If the Cowboys wavered about Prescott as the starting quarterback after his struggles last season, they should wait to extend him.
In the end, it may cost them a little more. The longer you wait in the Quarterback the more expensive you become.
It appears the Cowboys have long been eyeing Brandon Aubry as a solution to fill the vacant position – Jerry Trotta, Landry cap
The former Cowboys kicker helped the recently signed Cowboys player get to where he is today.
When the dust settled, the Cowboys landed USFL’s Brandon Aubrey to succeed Maher. the The signing surprised almost everyone Certified vets such as Ruby Gould and Mason Crosby are available.
Sadly, Dallas rolls the dice on the unfixed Aubrey, who will He competed against Tristan Vizcaino during training camp. While fans are uneasy about how Aubrey will perform, it appears the Cowboys have long been in the crosshairs.
Is Brandon O’Pry Poised to Become a Cowboys Player?
for every Mike Fisher from Sports IllustratedCowboys special teams coordinator Jon Vassell attended several USFL games to personally scout Aubrey (and other candidates).
As the NFL’s point kicking leader last season, Aubry made a strong impression on the Cowboys coach. He kicked 14 of his 15 field goals – including every kick inside 49 yards – and all 35 extra points for the Birmingham Stallions.
It should also not be underestimated that Birmingham’s special teams coordinator is Chris Boniol, who famously kicked for the Cowboys in the mid-1990s, including in 1995 power champions.
In three seasons with the Cowboys, Boniol made over 87% of his field goals—including an NFL-leading 96.4 conversion rate in 1995—and 97.5% (118-of-121) of extra points.
It is understood Boniol was instrumental in Aubrey’s development and breakout season after he switched from football to soccer.
Doomed! Cowboys’ Tony Pollard Will Sign Second Sign — Or Leave? – Isaiah Dinda Delgado, SI.com
To signal again in 2024 or let it run in 2024? The next season should provide us with the way this story plays out next.
the Dallas Cowboys And Pro Bowl manager Tony Pollard failed to sign a long-term extension Monday, so he will play 2023 with the $10 million franchise mark. Is this a bad thing? And is it bad if all this happens again in the next off-season?
Pollard’s first 1,000 yard season ended after he broke his leg in the playoffs. However, Dallas has shown faith in its budding superstar by cutting Ezequiel Elliott, not signing the more experienced free agency contract, and drafting Deuce Vaughn, who is considered the most outspoken.
If Pollard continues to perform as well as he did in 2023, there is no reason the Cowboys should I can not Extend it beyond 2024. But this is not about “can” or “can’t”. This is about the “devaluation of the running back,” the issue hottest in NFL circles with the opening of training camps.
On the other hand, signing the 26-year-old Pollard to a long-term deal might make more sense financially than his second-straight mark, which is around $13 million. That opportunity won’t come now until next spring.
