Martin: Solari brings ‘edge’ back to Dallas OL – Nick Harris, Dallascowboys.com
Dallas’ offensive line has never been as dominant as it was in 2016. That may change with the intervention of a new coach.
One addition includes offensive line coach Mike Solari, who has been coaching in the NFL for 35 years that began with his first stint with the Cowboys in 1987-88, spending two years in his final two seasons with Tom Landry as head coach. Solari was an assistant offensive line coach and special teams coach for those two seasons. Since then, he has joined six different teams, incl Packers for a season under Mike McCarthy.
Eight-time pro offensive lineman Zach Martin managed to link up early on with Solari as he sees a different kind of energy brought into the room in 2023 with bubbles finally hitting the court later this summer.
“It was amazing,” Martin said. “Lots of energy. His resume speaks for itself, he’s coached a lot of good lines. I think the most important thing is to bring that advantage back into our offensive line and I think he’ll be a big part of that. It’s been a great first month with him and I can’t wait to train with him.” .
The offensive line has been a center stack with a lot of focus this offseason with the departure of Conor McGovern, the addition of Solari, the drafting of Asim Richards and the heightened expectations of what Tyler Smith will be able to achieve in his sophomore season.
UDFA Cowboys Class Revealed: Tight End Princeton Fant – Mike Boland, Blogging For Boys
Here’s a look at one of the Cowboys’ newest tight ends, Princeton Fant.
Positives:
– proven to be of all occupations in Tennessee. Register as a receiver, rusher and passer.
– Exceptional explosiveness off the line and on the sidelines. Straight line speed is good which helps to beat the line.
– Aggressive and physical as a ball carrier to gain extra yards.
– Don’t be afraid.
– A versatile formation and can line up anywhere on the field. Played widely, from the slot and in the background.
– Also versatile in the background as a blocker or runner. Played as a defender and linebacker H.
Soft handles at the pickup point.
Areas of improvement:
– His biggest problem is size. Not only is it small, but its frame looks like it would be difficult to add weight and it lacks height. To play as an H linebacker in the NFL, he has to be a lot heavier.
All aspects of blocking require training.
Slows his foot at the point of contact as a blocker.
– There is no anchoring ability and no strength at the point of attack.
Struggles to breakaway as a side road runner.
– Fails to win contested balls when catching the ball away from his body.
3 UDFAs that could make the team in 2023 – Damon Smith, Inside Star
The rookies haven’t even made it to camp yet, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start thinking about who will make the team.
de terros wheat – Mississippi
wheat pictures He passed the test on two of these three main factors – talent and money.
First, let’s discuss talent. I don’t rate draft prospects, so I rely on those who do it full time, year round.
One such person is Dane Brugler of the Athletic, who had Wheat as their 129th player in total and a fourth-round score.
Unless there was a medical issue that put him out of action, teams obviously didn’t feel the same way, but the NFL has been wrong many times before.
Even if Brugler overestimated it a bit, he got a renewable player in an excellent position like edge rusher can be a massive steal.
Now, the money. According to NFL Network’s Tom Bellicero, Wheat signed a deal that included a $20,000 signing bonus as well as an $185,000 salary guarantee..
FB HUNTER LUEPKE – North Dakota State
Hunter Luepke is my favorite of the unoccupied free agents the Cowboys have signed.
Bruegler notes in his book Scouts a report Luepke has abilities as a forward, runner, and on special teams. The ability to wear multiple hats goes a long way for a player who isn’t designed to make the roster.
after his release Ezekiel Elliottthe Cowboys need the strength to do some dirty work to keep Tony Pollard fresh and healthy.
Luepke’s size – 230 lbs. – and production to offer such a role.
Although he is listed fullback, he is no stranger to carrying the ball. While at North Dakota State, he amassed 1,665 rushing yards, 494 rushing yards, and 33 career touchdowns.
New Eagle D’Andre Swift takes a big shot at the Cowboys – Steve Delvecchio, Larry Brown Sports
This is just more fuel for the fire that the Cowboys can use next season.
Swift announced this week that he will wear number 0 with the Eagles. He wore 32 during his three seasons with the Detroit Lionsbut Swift now wants to take advantage of the new rule allowing NFL players to use No. 0.
On Friday, a reporter asked Swift why he chose the new number. He said he loves it because it represents how many times the Dallas Cowboys have been to NFC Championship game in his life.
D’Andre Swift on why he chose the number 0:
“That’s the number of times the Cowboys have been to the NFC Championship Game in my life.”
– Marlo Stanfield (BooRxdley) May 5, 2023
Math check. Swift was born in 1999. It was after the era of cowboy dominance in the mid-1990s. Dallas went to the NFC Championship Game every year from 1992-1995 and won three Super Bowls during that four-year period. They haven’t done much since then.
