Micah Parsons The Cowboys are preparing for a “Year to Remember” – Todd Archer, ESPN
Micah Parsons is pumped for this season, which he’s already called an “unforgettable year.”
Coach Mike McCarthy added, “He’ll be competitive in everything he does. That’s just the way he handles it. It’s obvious with the athleticism and physical talent that he has, but his leadership and competitiveness is as good as I’ve seen in any young player.”
McCarthy saw Clay Mathewsdevelop with Green Bay Packers And it was Julius Peppers Towards the end of the future Hall of Famer’s career in Green Bay. Parsons’ next leap, he said, is to make those around him better.
“Individually, he’s always going to be very influential, and that’s why it’s important for us to really stay focused on creating as many of those opportunities for him,” McCarthy said. “And I think that’s the whole conversation about where he’s going to line up. And I’m just telling you from an offensive perspective, when you line up a key player in the same spot, it’s easier to pitch an assist there.”
Parsons half-jokingly said he would play eight centers in 2023, in all seven forward positions and even in some coverage.
“I tell you, I will do it all,” Parsons said. “It will be an unforgettable year for sure.”
Malik Davis benefits in Pollard’s absence – Nick Harris, DallasCowboys.com
Malik Davis has been a little overlooked this season, but not in the junior camp.
Entering the sophomore year with a slightly different outlook on center room, Davis settled down and focused on improving on and off the field.
“I’ll just say I get it,” Davis said of what he’s trying to improve the most in 2023. “When I’m out, I just know what’s going to happen before the ball goes in. That’s what I want to focus on this season.”
Understanding is something head coach Mike McCarthy has seen crystal clear from Davis so far this offseason as he praises the sophomore leap the Florida product was able to make.
“He did an excellent job, especially in the classroom,” said McCarthy. “You can see his confidence and understanding. I think the running backs as a whole have been really challenged this spring and the running backs have handled very well. I’m very happy with Malik and the running back group.”
The ability to make an impact increased during OTAs and mini-camp with Tony Pollard still sidelined with a leg injury, Davis took on a slew of first-team reps to get more comfortable with the attack and the players around him.
McCarthy is intrigued by Waltzko’s flexible attitude – Kyle Yeomans, Dallas Cowboys.com
The Cowboys are hoping Matt Waltzko can be the answer to their depth problem up front.
Waltzko rarely found the field as a rookie with only three games of experience and a shoulder injury ending his first campaign. An injury limited his production to just one offensive snap and he went to 11 special teams in 2022.
“You don’t really know until you get in there and see what they’re capable of,” Mike McCarthy said Wednesday. “He never missed a training session with rehab, he put an enormous amount of extra time and energy into his shoulder recovery.”
Since being released from action in May, Waltzko has rotated to the natural tackle position, but has also welcomed the challenge of playing inside the field. He took important reps at left guard and finding his way down the field for extra shots in drills.
Listed at 6-foot-7, 305 pounds, the North Dakota product doesn’t necessarily look like a typical offensive guard. In fact, this is the first action on the inside offensive line in his playing career.
“You watch him drop out of college,” McCarthy added. “You see this guy has a little bit better feet than we realize. And then obviously he plays with his height, when he walks in the door, it’s easy to think this guy’s going to be a left or right tackle for the rest of his career. He’s really shown the ability to lean in.” .
Hot Buys, Predictions of the Cowboys’ Most Influential Free Agent Signing – Christopher Knox, Bleacher Report
A quick summary of some Cowboys free agent contracts.
The Cowboys recently released Takkarist McKinley after initially re-signing him to a One year deal. It’s no exaggeration to think they could follow in the footsteps of Dante Fowler Jr., who was re-signed to the One year 3 million dollars Dealing in free agency.
Dallas is somewhat loaded with rushing traffic devices. The rotation includes two-time All-Pro Micah Parsons, who is bulking And switch to a full-time linebacker in this off-season. They also include three-time Pro Bowler Demarcus Lawrence, Sam Williams, Dorrance Armstrong, and Villami Fiocco Jr. in the 2022 Fourth Round.
If Williams and Fuhuko show enough in training camp, a depth player like Fowler could be on the way out.
However, the prediction here is for the 28-year-old to stick around and make an impact defensively again. He had six sacks and 21 Quarterback pressures in 2022 despite only playing 30 percent of the defensive snaps. This is a constant rate of rotational impulse.
Williams had four sacks as a starter and might be poised for a bigger role, but Fiocco didn’t hold back. Expect Fowler to stick with a valuable depth piece even if he can’t be considered a franchise block.
