Cowboys, Mike McCarthy reveal Michael Gallup’s big plans after Brandyn Cox trade – Dan Fabiano, ClutchPoints
Even if the Cowboys draft a wide receiver in the first round, Michael Gallup will have a bigger role on offense.
McCarthy told Gallup that It will be highlighted More on crime, via Calvin Watkins from The Dallas Morning News. Around the Cowboys’ facilities, there is speculation that Gallup is poised for a big jump into its sixth season in the NFL.
Drafted by Dallas Gallup in the third round of 2018 NFL Draft. By 2019, Gallup looked like a future star with the Cowboys as he caught 66 passes for 1,107 and six touchdowns. He followed that up with a performance of 59 catches, 843 yards, and five touchdowns in 2020.
However, Gallup tore his ACL after making nine appearances in 2021. He returned and played in 14 games this past season, but Gallup hasn’t reversed the success he had at the start of his career. Last year, Gallup caught just 39 passes for 424 yards and four touchdowns.
Still, the Cowboys clearly believe in Michael Gallup. Dallas gave him a five-year, $62.5 million extension last year. Now two years after his ACL tear, Mike McCarthy is looking for Gallup to return to his explosive ways.
5 Realistic draft fit for Dallas defense – Kyle Yeomans, Dallascowboys.com
If the Cowboys add talent to their defense in April, here are names to look out for.
As the Dallas Cowboys prepare to add new prospects to the roster, they will have to gauge value, need, and risk to accurately make their decisions about which class of the draft. Will needs outweigh value? Or will value overwhelm needs at a particular moment in time? It’s a balancing act that all teams go through, even if the answer is as simple as taking the best.
With all of these factors at play, here’s the 2023 NFL Draft prospect that best fits Dallas’ position for every defensive position.
Edge Rusher: Will MacDonald IV, Iowa
If you think there are already a perfect number of edge contestants on the list with the likes of Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, Dorrance Armstrong, and more? Add one more. McDonald fits the mold as a different style from the other racers on the list and brings a game of ingenuity that wears speed and length. His consistent output as the cream of the All-12 three-time Ames has given him a glimpse into his next-level production. Teams will have to decide if he can add some steam to his stellar NFL game. But for now, this gives Dallas a welcome change of heart.
Interior Defensive Line: Mazie Smith, Michigan
For a team that excelled at rushing passers but struggled to stop runs over the past few years, a big nose tackle might be the missing piece. Dallas secured that midway through last season by adding Jonathan Hankins. And while he re-signed with the Cowboys this season, even he’s not a long-term solution to range defense. This is where Mazie Smith comes in. One of the best defensemen in all of college football last season, Smith recorded a team-high 25 pressure and 48 tackles. He plays with incredible power and flashes some lateral speed when eliminating blocks. His addition to Dan Quinn’s front seven could help free up many playmakers around him for years to come.
Cowboys and Giants in talks for ‘high-order’ TE: Report – Evan Reyer, Heavy.com
Dallas has been linked with some tight prospects at the top of the draft, but they’re trying to find some rough diamonds as well.
Dallas has made some splashes this season, but there is still time for the NFC East franchise to make another. The same goes for any NFL team, but the Cowboys could put the proverbial icing on the cake.

Big-body #EastCarolina TE Ryan Jones has been in high demand, attracting interest and multiple conversations with #Giants, #Cowboys and #Bills, per sources. Jones, 6-foot-3 and 247 pounds, caught 41 passes for 413 yards and 4 TDs in 2022,” Lombardo posted on Twitter April 14.
Looks like Dallas needed A new tight end after they let Dalton Schultz walk him after a year on the franchise tag. However, they introduced two rookies to the pool positions last year, which made the process moving forward a lot more interesting.
