2023 NFL Draft: How TE Luke Schoonmaker fits in with the Cowboys offense – John Ewing, PFF
If you’re wondering how Dallas’ second-round pick fits into their offense, here’s an idea.
Listed at 6-foot-5, 251 pounds with a 4.63-second 40-yard dash, the former Michigan tight end has the physical attributes to be a mismatched weapon in the passing game. He’s not quite there yet, but minor improvements as a road runner and at the catch point could enable him to be a more productive receiver in the NFL than he ever was in college.
Elite sports activities9.86 Relative mathematical score) gives him a roof that looks skyward, as he has the speed to extend the seam, the agility to create separation in and out of his breaks and the size along with the leaping ability to deliver a mismatch even in contested catch situations. Schoonmaker’s athleticism, paired with lower-body flexibility and physique, gives him an incredibly high ceiling as a road runner, which would be a welcome sight for quarterback Dak Prescott.
Schoonmaker is the big-bodied target who could prove to be an effective enforcer for Prescott, and don’t be surprised if he does a better job of establishing yards after catches than Dalton Schultz did in previous seasons, doing an amazing job of quickly turning into a runner after securing catches.
Fortunately, as he develops as a passing player, Schoonmaker has the stopping power to make an impact right away, showing a powerful catch and an impressive ability to create open running lanes on the edge. Schoonmaker is one of the few tight ends and is capable of blocking both in line and in space, giving him flexibility to move around the formation and still be a weapon in the running game.
Cowboys “Go Blue” with the first two draft picks – Chad Fisher, ClutchPoints
You know what they say; One Boring Michigan Wolverine, But Two Partyers,
It is the second time in six years that the Cowboys have selected two Wolverines in the same draft. In 2017, Dallas led Michigan to defensive end Taco Charlton in the first round and cornerback Jordan Lewis in the third round.
The Cowboys’ scoring defense ranked fifth in 2022 (20.1), and sixth best in the league. Their rushing defense ranked 22nd, however, and allowed 129.3 yards per game, so a running back like Smith was a big need.
One of the strongest players in the draft, he’s not going to be pushed around often. At the NFL Scouting Combine, he had 34 bench press reps, the most by a defensive player and second-most by a combine.
Schoonmaker dealt with injuries in his final season at Michigan, which limited his productivity, but he should be a solid replacement for Dalton Schultz, who signed with Houston Tx in free agency.
Third row in the NFC East: A solid divisional run – Richard Paolinelli, inside star
Looks like everyone in the NFC East is going home tonight after getting everything they wanted.
After what can, at best and very benevolently, be called bleak Round two In general, the NFC East Well rebounded in Third round. The Eagles, who advanced in the opening round on Thursday, started the tour on the right foot.
The Giants took advantage of a top 50 prospect falling to them with the 73rd pick, a bid Daniel Jones Nice target to shoot at. Obviously, the cowboys want that Dan Quinn Never leave the stargiving him a super cute shiny new toy to play with.
The leaders managed not to miss their pick, which was a huge improvement over their efforts in the second round. Overall, the division has been doing well for itself. Well enough for an overall grade of A-. Now to choose:
Find a gem in her backyard
Talk about a heist, pick a cowboy DeMarvion Override With the 90th overall pick he might be considered a big steal. Overtaking has been hampered by constant changes in coaches and schemes in Austin. He will find stability in Dallas.
Dan Quinn knows how to take advantage of players like Overhown. I suspect he’d be a pain stopper for the Cowboys, along with any other run-happy lane the Cowboys play.
Solid B with potential to climb to A- or even more. The Cowboys could have taken up another area of need, but A.J Micah Parsons The reproduction is hard to miss.
Cowboys draft past DeMarvion in the third round: Texas LB adds finesse to Dallas D – John Machuta, The Athletic
There is no doubt that the Cowboys filled a need in linebacker by drafting the overrun.
Arrange a large plate
Overhown was ranked as the eighth best player on the Brugler team with a third through fourth round score.
How does it fit him
He is a versatile linebacker who prides himself on his ability to line up at multiple spots, advance to block runs, slide into coverage against a tight end or pass quickly on third downs.
Second guess?
This choice makes sense with the Cowboys moving on from Anthony Barr, leaving Luke Gifford in free agency. Some notable players were still available when the Cowboys started on the clock: Georgia linebacker Kelly Ringo, Texas running back Roshone Johnson, South Carolina linebacker Darius Rush and North Carolina State Offensive guard Chandler Zavala.
bullish effect
Overtaking should be able to compete for playing time right away. The most notable midfielders on the depth chart are Leighton Vander Esch, Damon Clarke and Gabriel Cox. The overrun must be able to help play in multiple defensive roles while also contributing to special teams.
