The Ultimate Fighter season 31 debuted, coached by Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler, with an average of 294,000 viewers.
Last Tuesday saw McGregor return to training at TUF, eight years after his first season (22) when he faced Uriah Faber. Recent viewing figures revealed the average viewership of nearly 300,000 viewers was 11y The most popular show that day. According to the Nielsen rating system, Episode .14 received a market share in the 18-49 demographic.
Those numbers are down significantly from MacGregor’s first appearance on the show, and the first episode of Season 22 reached an average viewership of 622,000. However, viewership numbers are still significantly up from the last available numbers for TUF’s season, which was season 28. Robert Whitaker coached opposite Kelvin Gastelum and the first episode averaged 186,000.
Next episode of the series It’s set to air later tonight and will pick up after Roosevelt Roberts’ eight-second exit from Nate Jennerman. This difference in the series from the previous one is because it not only has rising prospects, but also includes former UFC fighters like Roberts, who are looking for a way back into the promotion.
Conor McGregor’s return to action
When news broke that McGregor would be training on TUF, it seemed like we were definitely going to have a fight with her sometime this year. However, even with the first episode airing, McGregor has yet to re-enter the USADA test pool, which he would need to do to be eligible to fight in the UFC.
Even with both UFC President Dana White and McGregor himself insisting on an announcement soon, nothing seems imminent and “The Notorious” doesn’t appear to be in training camp.
