In another excerpt ahead of the release of a new multi-part documentary series ahead of his expected return from Octagon this year, former champion Conor McGregor shared backstage footage of his loss to arch-rival Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 back in 2018.
McGregor, the former undisputed lightweight and featherweight champion under the UFC banner, is set to star in a multi-part Netflix docuseries later this month – titled ‘MacGregor forever – in preparation for the expected UFC comeback later this year.
Sidelined with injury since July 2021, McGregor made a UFC 264 headline in a first-round doctor’s stoppage TKO to former interim title holder, Dustin Poirier – fracturing his left tibia and fibula in the opening frame.

Last month, footage emerged of McGregor after surgery in California, in which he claimed he worried his career had come surprisingly close to breaking the back of his leg against Lafayette’s rival, Poirier.
“I thought it was over, too,” Conor McGregor said of his career during an excerpt from “McGregor Forever.” “That’s why I flipped into a different mould. Now it’s adrenaline too, and I wouldn’t know—I would calm down, and part of my mind thought, ‘Jesus, imagine if it was taken from me like this. ‘ I’m going to—I’ll be a different person.”
Posting another two-minute excerpt on his official Twitter account, McGregor insisted that before his fight against Michael Chandler later this year, he was still the fighter who won the promotion.

Highlighting the many victories and setbacks during his octagonal reign, McGregor shared a behind-the-scenes look – instead staring at his bitter defeat to the aforementioned Nurmagomedov, claiming “I was defeated, and that’s it.”
Leading UFC 229 against Nurmagomedov in an undisputed lightweight title fight in October 2018, McGregor suffered an eventual fourth-round crank loss to the Russian sambo specialist in an intense grudge match.
