In college athletics across the United States, camps play a distinct role in directing high school students to their respective universities.
To become a point guard on a college basketball team, for example, the prospect is sure to have attended “point guard camps,” or groups showcasing a unique talent. The same can be said for almost all sports. Children seek out camps to get an education about the recruitment process, interact with trainers, and develop skills. Coaches look for campers to interact with recruits efficiently and effectively on a personal level—something that is often difficult to do during a normal competition schedule—making them better informed when presenting scholarships or lists of candidates.
