The Glasgow Clan has confirmed the takeover of the Michael O’Rourke-led club by TDL Media.
The clan’s new owner spoke on Friday morning as his company completed the takeover of the Glasgow Clan and also became the new operators of the Braehead Arena.
“It is with great pride that we have acquired ownership of the Glasgow Clan and become the new operators of Braehead Arena. The Clan can be incredibly proud of their loyal and passionate fan base. We are committed to continually communicating our values, ambitions and plans to the Purple Army,” O’Rourke began.
“In sports, no one can guarantee success, but our first priority is to put the clan in the best position possible to achieve success on and off the ice. The first step in that process is to finalize the hiring of a head coach and head of hockey operations and provide that person with all the resources available to drive the team straight ahead.
“Our second priority in the short term will be to improve the fan experience on game nights at Braehead Arena with the installation of a new large screen/scoreboard. This will be the first phase of a program to improve the stadium facilities over the course of the next year.
“Our guardianship of the clan should not be judged in the short term, and what we want to do is put in place foundations and structures to ensure the long-term clan is a staple of West Scotland society, an unparalleled game night experience for fans and a daunting opponent for any team in the league.”
Elite League Chairman Tony Smith added: “We warmly welcome Michael and TDL Media to the Elite Ice Hockey League, and we look forward to working with them over many years to come. Michael has many exciting plans for the future direction of the club, and I’m sure my fans will The tribe can’t wait to see their team on the ice again in September to start their new journey.”
