DeAndre Hopkins may be 31, but the former Pro Bowler has no plans to call it a career anytime soon, hinting Thursday that he’s got at least another half-decade of football in the tank. Despite the hype about possibly landing the wide receiver with the Patriots or the Titans, the Chiefs remain another possibility, according to ESPN, as they are still in talks with the free agent.
Jeremy Fowler recently mentioned that “the Chiefs have been keeping in touch, and they certainly have some interest.”
The issue is money, as it has been since Hopkins initially became available via trade early this offseason. Kansas City has just over $400,000 in current salary cap space — the lowest in the NFL — and Hopkins is said to be seeking a deal in the range of the $15 million, one-year deal that landed Odell Beckham Jr. with the Ravens. The Chiefs could free up funds to pursue Hopkins “more aggressively” by expanding star defensive tackle Chris Jones, according to Fowler, but that may not happen until late summer.
Pre-Camp Breakdown: An Examination of Chiefs’ Crowded Broad Receiving Corps | the mom
We’ll continue with wide receiver, as the Chiefs currently employ 14 players. This is one of the more interesting groups of positions on the list, which also makes it difficult to view. Here’s what quarterback Patrick Mahomes had to say about the Chiefs’ wide receiver corps earlier this season:
“I think we’re deep. I think that’s the most important thing. Normally, you kind of have a good sense of it.” [is going to make the team] And it’s all like that, but with this set, it’s just like that [I can see a path for every single guy making the team]Mahomes said. “That’s what you want. You want that competition. Even the guys who stepped in have done a lot of great things, and people from other systems have stepped in and done great things. So, [there’s] A lot of competition in that room is going to be over [offseason practices] and camp, but I’m glad where we are in this parlor room.”

Andy Reid, Eagles, Chiefs
Some NFL “experts” believe Reed would have won as many (or more) powerIf only he had Brady behind center like Belichick did.
Regardless, Red Patrick Mahomes has developed into the best player in the most important position in the sport. This came after he added to the winning ledger with Philadelphia Eagles. There will likely be more episodes to come.
“The only reason he hasn’t gotten more recognition for his coaching brilliance is because he’s a contemporary of Bill Belichick,” said Karrueche.
6 NFL players and teams that will defy expectations in 2023 | Ovarian report
Toni Cadarius will excel at 1,200 yards
Kadarius Toney has only played two professional seasons, but it seems fans have been waiting for the 2021 No. 20 pick to break out for about five years now.
In the third year, that breakthrough may finally come.
While highlighting a potential player for each AFC team, Pro Football Focus’ Zoltan Boday singled out Tony, who caught 14 passes for 171 yards and two stars in seven games with the Chiefs last year:
Why would Tony have a freshman season in 2023? Just play the tape of last year’s Super Bowl to find the answer. Tony was on the field for only seven shots and still scored a touchdown and had the crucial kick return. Add the departure of JuJu Smith-Schuster and a complete offset of Toney in Kansas City, and it’s understandable why Chiefs fans are so excited about the prospects of the former Giants wide receiver.”
Fans aren’t the only ones eager to see a full season for the 24-year-old. New Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy told reporters he was intrigued to see what he could do in a full off-season under his belt in Kansas City:
“I think we all see what he can do when he has the football in his hands. Again, same kind of deal, he comes in mid-season, it’s a whole new offense, he has to learn ins and outs, so you have that point and he was able to do that, And it’s exciting now for us to be able to take that into year two and build that relationship with Pat. But he’s so talented with the football on his hands and he’s been that way his whole football career.”
Tony’s explosiveness was never questioned. He also doesn’t have his ability to make people miss out on the open field. Travis Kelce may be Patrick Mahomes’ favorite target, but with Smith-Schuster gone, the team needs someone to step into the role of first receiver.
That person would be Tony — and he’ll be sailing past the 1,000-yard mark in 2023.
Kansas City Chiefs: OTs Donovan Smith and Joanne Taylor
As mentioned earlier, the Bengals have signed Orlando Brown away from the Chiefs. They only did that after Kansas City signed Joan Taylor to a big free agent deal, but Kansas City also added Smith to the mix. It initially looked like Taylor might switch from right tackle to left tackle, but in the aftermath of the Smith deal, he may have been residing where he’s spent most of his career, with Smith residing at Patrick Mahomes’ blindside. If that’s the case, there’s a lot of confidence in putting a player out of what was probably his worst season in the NFL. Obviously protecting Tom Brady is a lot different than protecting Mahomes, but if Smith doesn’t have that protection anymore, it could cause the Chiefs to do a bunch of shuffling up front. This is not ideal.

Ex-RB Corey Dillon rips up the Bengals’ honor selection process | ESPN
Former Bengals running back Corey Dillon is due to the franchise’s honor selection process.
The Bengals’ leading snob — who once said he “flips burgers” during a contract dispute with the club — has taken shots at how the team honors its former players. In an interview with The Athletic published Thursday, Dillon didn’t hold back as he expressed his displeasure with the process that includes votes from season ticket holders and wingers. He said it was “nonsense” and the selection should be done directly by the front office or a special committee.
“This is not a popularity contest,” Dillon told the outlet. “This is football. You would put someone more famous than someone with stats?
“The Bengals are smart. I give it to them. We’ll put it in the hands of the season ticket holders, so they don’t have to put up with the backlash over who the voters choose. That’s bulls—. The th… has to come straight from the team. Half of those season ticket holders didn’t They see half of us play.”
Wideout Darius Slayton, who re-signed with the club this off-season, rejects this idea, believing he could be the target.
“I wouldn’t say it bothers me because not everyone knows what I know,” Slayton told The New York Post’s Ryan Donlevy when asked about his disrespect about the NFL. “Everyone is not in Giants Building. At the end of the day, you can only judge based on what you see from afar.”
Slayton has led the Giants in receiving three of the past four seasons but never breached the 800-yard mark. The Big Blue hasn’t had a 1,000-yard drive from a receiver since Odell Beckham Jr. in 2018.
“You see this guy go 1,010 (yards) or you see a guy who goes 100 yards every week, and you go, ‘He’s really good,’” Slayton said. “Some of these guys play nobody. I play with Sakon (Barclay). Where do you think the ball will go first? not me. We had Sterling Shepherd, Evan Ingram, and now Darren Waller.
“I didn’t just play with a bunch of bums. It’s a bit annoying because at the end of the day, it’s not like I’m the only one or the only one getting the ball, when someone [else] He is. It is what it is. At the end of the day, I just play to win. As long as the Giants win, I’ll be fine.”

Chiefs History: Andy Reid, Belichick Patriots and the ‘Goat’ Question
As it is, Reed He is fifth all-time in wins (247)He will pass Pro Football Hall of Fame coach Tom Landy (250) next season. And after that, Reid will only track the current New England Patriots Head coach Bill Belichick (298) and NFL legends George Halas (318) and Don Shula (328) have the most wins in NFL history.
What is often overlooked is that Reid is six years younger than Belichick – both of whom are still training. Quick math time.
Since joining the Chiefs in 2013, the club has averaged 11.7 wins per season. Round that to 12 for six More seasons would put Reed at 319 wins, one ahead of Halas. It is often assumed that Reed will retire before then, but who is to say will not sign last Five-year contract following the 2025 season?
