Kansas City Chiefs: OT Donovan Smith
The Kansas City Chiefs made some interesting moves in tackling this offseason. They signed Jawaan Taylor to a major contract in free agency, let Orlando Brown Jr. go to Cincinnati Bengals And Donovan Smith was snapped up with a one-year, $3 million contract.
It’s a great gamble on a player with eight years of experience starting at left tackle. In theory, that would prevent them from having to move newly acquired Taylor to the blind side after he played right in Jacksonville.
The narrative surrounding Smith is that with the benefit of playing for Andy Reed and a Super Bowl contender for the Chiefs, the veteran will bounce back from a terrible campaign in 2022. Smith played in 13 games last season, giving up six sacks and drawing 12 penalties.
But Smith is going from protecting Tom Brady to Patrick Mahomes. Even with Brady playing his final season, he’s the league’s easiest player to protect. According to Next Gen Stats, Brady got the ball faster than anyone else, averaging just 2.45 seconds.
Brady was a master pocket rusher and only grabbed 22 sacks last season. Mahomes’ protection is certainly a more difficult request and it is reasonable to suspect that Smith would have chosen it.
Chiefs OT Jawaan Taylor
With Andy Reed on the sidelines and Patrick Mahomes under center, odds are Kansas City will be fine even if roadblocks come up. But only Eagles star Lynn Johnson is set to do more at right tackle after Taylor landed a huge deal in free agency. At $20m a year, he better be £1, otherwise fans might want the Chiefs just to pay to keep Orlando Brown on the side.

About the NFL
Indianapolis took a great opportunity to draft quarterback Anthony Richardson with the No. 4 overall pick in the April draft, and Colts owner Jim Irsay feels the rookie will need to see the field sooner rather than later in order to pay the dividend.
“You guys know, we were Peyton (Manning’s junior) freshman year we were 3-13, freshman year,” Show Pat McAfee on monday. “This is a guy who’s played a lot of college games and was really as prepared as he can be for the league. So, for Anthony Richardson, it’s going to be tough. We know that. But he has to play to get better. I mean, there’s no doubt. He can get out.” Gardner (Mincio) and he’s playing better early on, he’s just a veteran, but we’ve got to get Anthony on the field. And that’s (head coach) Shane’s (Stitchin) call when he decides to do it.”
While Irsay has made no statements or demands about Richardson being a Week 1 starter, instead leaving the final schedule to his new head coach, he has made his position clear on the possibility that the starter was rigged by the fire.
Richardson, who has yet to be signed to his rookie contract, has 4.4 speed and a cannonball, but his lack of experience — he served as Florida’s full-time starter for only one season — made it hard to predict his draft slot until the Colts made him their own.

News Chiefs: Chris Jones signs on. Schedule includes Williams, Hopkins
The first-team All-Pro defensive tackle — who is entering the final year of a four-year contract with the Chiefs — is currently seeking a long-term extension. The process can be disrupted by New York JetsConversations with defensive tackle Quinn Williams, Which is said to be after a new deal in the range of $25 million to $35 million a season.
Whatever number Gates and Williams come up with, it will likely serve as a baseline in Jones’ reps and their conversations with presidents. Jones – One of the better decision makers in the league than Williams – It can wait for the first domino to fall.
Some theorized that Williams could sign and then Jones could sign—which would open up a lot of space for Kansas City. bosses That space is then supposed to be used to get wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. At the time of this writing, New England and Tennessee appear to be favorites for Hopkins’ services, but he remains a free agent.
