NFL Team’s Biggest X Factor Entering the 2023 Season | Team 33
Kansas City Chiefs
LT Donovan Smith
What Reid understands is that the difference in value between your left and right style is essentially null. That’s why Reed has for years had one of the best right tackles in the game in Mitchell Schwartz, and why he’s willing to spend on Taylor’s highest-paid right tackle in the AFC. The prevalence of shotgun configurations has reduced “blind” side effects. Most defenses align their best edges against a right tackle. This season he is scheduled to face Taylor Hutchinson (Black), Clark (Broncos) and Joey Bosa (chargers(Twice, Gillan Phillips)dolphins), Hasson Reddick (Eagles), Max Crosby (Raiders) twice, Von Miller (Bills) and Matthew Goodon (Patriots).
Whichever way you think is better, it’s hard to criticize presidents for choosing Taylor over Brown. They had their reasons. And yes, Mahomes, with his seemingly frantic but actually deadly dribble tendencies, can hide some pass protection woes. However: You still don’t want to put the MVP in the league to blows.
Donovan Smith was available for a signing because the team he knew best (Tampa Bay) no longer wanted him. And presumably 30 other teams haven’t either since Smith’s deal wasn’t signed until May and, after incentives, is only worth $3 million.
1. Travis Kelsey
Travis Kelce is one of the biggest receiving threats in all of the NFL, not to mention the tight end position. With the Chiefs transferring from Tyreek Hill prior to the 2022 season, Kelce has been required to take on a greater workload on Kansas City’s passing offense, where he has scored a career high 152 goals. He took those added looks from Patrick Mahomes and turned it into career highs in receptions and receiving touchdowns while ranking eighth among all pass players in receiving yards. Kelce was also a force throughout the Chiefs’ run to a power LVII title, which included an 81-yard, one-touchdown performance in Kansas City’s victory over the Eagles, catching all six of his targets.
While Kelce is best known for his prowess as a receiver, he’s not too shabby as a blocker in 2022 either, ranking 15th among tight ends, according to Pro Football Focus.
Kelce is simply on a different level than the rest of his fellow tight ends at the moment.
11. Creed Humphrey
position: c | a team: Heads | age: 24
Kansas City needs a little more than Patrick Mahomes to compete for annual titles. Or at least he feels that way. But Humphrey has been rock-solid as the QB line of Mahomes since arriving as a second baseman. Not only has he never missed a start in the NFL, but he is rarely penalized and ranks as one of the game’s best center guards.
Upset of the Season for 32 NFL Teams: Players to Watch | ESPN
Kansas City Chiefs
RB Denric Prince
An undrafted rookie free agent, Prince benefited from a thin depth back scheme and emerged as a receiver during off-season practice, making several difficult catches. With Isiah Pacheco recovering from off-season surgery, Prince has a chance to claim not only a roster spot but some playing time if he shows pass protection ability in training camp. – Adam Tesher

Former Arkansas, NFL Ryan Mallett dies by apparent drowning | ESPN
Former Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett, who had a seven-year career in the NFL, died Tuesday in an apparent drowning on a Florida beach, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. He was 35 years old.
The sheriff’s office said first responders were called to a beach in Destin, Florida, around 2:12 p.m. local time, where a group of people were swimming in the Gulf of Mexico near a sandbar struggling to get back to shore. One individual, later identified as Mallet, was not breathing when he was pulled out of the water and taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“It is with great sadness that we share the loss of Coach Ryan Mallett,” Whitehall, the Arkansas school district where Mallett coached high school football, wrote in a post on its website. “Coach Mallett was a beloved coach and educator. We ask that you remember his family, team, students, fellow coaches, and White Hall School District staff in your prayers.”
Eric Beniemi ‘got excited’ ahead of season 1 as The O.C.: ‘It gave me a whole new look’ | NFL.com
There are benefits to what many might see as lateral movement. Benemi leaves explosive bosses for the leaders, but also steps out of Andy Reed’s shadow, free to claim whatever positive results from his offense.
“I’m excited and excited,” Benemi said via ESPN’s Jon Kim. “It gave me a whole new look.”
Bieniemy has plenty of reasons to be excited, and he acts accordingly, emphasizing intensity and attention to detail. He noticed his new players fairly quickly, especially second-year player Jahan Dotson, who could help Washington a great deal if he develops into a legitimate threat against Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel.
“He was like, ‘You have so much potential, and I’m going to make sure I get it out of you,’” Dotson said. “That’s what you want in a person. That’s kind of how my dad was at a very young age; He saw the potential in me and made sure that I worked to get to where I wanted to be in life. You have to cherish people like that in your life, so I’m so grateful to be his moderator.”

early influence
Bolton had a phenomenal season in 2022, but – It is also detailed in the second part of this series He struggled with covering passes at times. It’s not the end of all thing to assess a fullback’s play, but deep coverage was not where Bolton was most comfortable, and most teams were familiar with it.
Early in the divisional round, it was Jacksonville Jaguars seemed to challenge him.
Lawrence pumps the ball and scouts the ball. He wants to hit WR as he goes down the road, but Bolton returns the acceleration and almost comes up with an interception. A big second effort on the play to force a fourth down. pic.twitter.com/5V5oDH7vNa

Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence quickly concludes that his initial read is not open, and uses a fake pump to extend the play. As he sprinted, he found Jamal Agnew fast through the middle. At first, Agnew seemed to have found the hole, but at the last second, Poulton came flying in to break up the pass.
