They may have been right to dismiss LT Orlando Brown Jr.’s demands, but sticking around and spending $20 million a year on ex-Jaguar Joanne Taylor, with clear plans to move the former A-lister to the left side, is risky. The addition of electric LB Drue Tranquill is an understated move for “D” Steve Spagnolo, but they also still lack juice wide for Patrick Mahomes, with JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman landing another and Rashi Rice entering second. Round only this way far.
8 players facing the make-or-break seasons of 2023 | The last word in sports
Tony Cadarius
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney is one of the most powerful and dangerous players in the league when he’s on the field. However, he is rarely on the field. The Chiefs desperately need someone to step up to the wide receiver position, and Tony is perfectly positioned to take advantage of the opportunity. If he can’t escape in 2023, it’s very unlikely that he will ever.
Five things to know about the new bosses OT Donovan Smith | the mom
3. Smith was among the best pass-blocking tackles in the NFL in 2021.
The 29-year-old Smith is only two years removed from a dominant season in which he compiled the sixth-best Pro Football Focus pass blocking score in the NFL (among tackles). Smith — who recorded 1,147 snaps at left tackle that season — surrendered just one sack in 784 pass-blocking takes. In fact, Smith’s impressive rating was despite playing the most pass-blocking shots of any left tackle in the NFL.
Additionally, among tackles to record at least 900 total catches in 2021, Smith’s pass blocking score is second only to Andrew Whitworth, Charles Leno Jr. and Trent Williams.
Price Consolidation DT Chris Jones Heads Amid $453 Million in Recent DT Investments | heavy
Chris Jones’ contract was among the reasons the Chiefs were tied up for the season. He’s in the final year of his $80 million, four-year deal with Kansas City, and has a cap of $28.2 million for the 2023 season according to over the cover.
The best way to lower his cap number for at least the 2023 season is to give Jones, 28, a contract extension, which would give him another payday but also tip his hat on the road. Kansas City will eventually have to tackle those extreme hits as well this off-season under Jones’ current deal. But the extension will provide relief for the team for the next year or two.
According to Nate Taylor of The Athletic on March 2, Jones wants a contract extension that would make him “at least” the second-highest-paid player in his position. Based on the aforementioned deals between the highest-paid interior defensemen, the type of deal Jones is seeking would net him between $60-65 million in total collateral.

No. 9 Brian Waters, G, 2000
The contributions of college offensive linemen aren’t overlooked much these days. They did at the turn of the century, and no more so when Waters wasn’t picked from North Texas—hardly a fertile source for professionals at the time. Once he perfected the blocking systems with the Chiefs, Waters became a regular in the Pro Bowl (six times), with two All-Pro selections. He started every game he was healthy from 2002-2011, the first nine seasons with the Chiefs, then one year in New England.
Waters’ name has been thrown into discussion about potential Hall of Famers, emphasizing his reliability and leadership — and overcoming his not being drafted.
“Even though he was out of college, Brian seized his opportunity here in Kansas City,” said Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, “and his work ethic, talent, and toughness have made him an undisputed leader on the field and in the locker room.” Brian also has a huge heart for service, and his commitment to the Kansas City community earned him the prestigious Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in 2009.”
Jerryk McKinnon’s return keeps Isaiah Pacheco from thriving for the Chiefs | Arrow addict
My biggest complaint about MacKinnon’s return is that Pacheco won’t have the chance to establish himself as a player who can replace MacKinnon in the years to come. Pacheco is far from being a tested running back threat, with just 20 conceding goals and 26 pass-blocking snaps to his credit. This role devolved on McKinnon and McKinnon alone. Pacheco’s lack of experience with pass protection and third-division situations could prove costly for the Chiefs. Fans already know what Edwards-Helaire brings to the table in pass protection and third down. But that could be the president’s contingency option in 2023 if McKinnon goes down, hardly a confidence-inspiring depth chart.
McKinnon will turn 31 once training camp starts this summer, making him one of the oldest players in Kansas City. Some of the concerns about whether he can hold out for another season of NFL action are understandable, especially given McKinnon’s history of injuries. (He missed all of the 2018 and 2019 seasons with knee injuries.) Those injuries have kept McKinnon out of several suitors, considering the physical punishment his position backs take. That age, injury history, and waning running game juice likely made McKinnon’s 2022 and 2023 comebacks possible for the Chiefs.
About the NFL
Jets’ Robert Salih says talking about Aaron Rodgers’ wish list is “ridiculous”. ESPN
The Jets added four former Green Bay Packers players — wide receiver Allen Lazard, quarterback Tim Boyle, tackle Billy Turner and receiver Randall Cobb, who signed a one-year contract on Wednesday.
“It’s very common for new faces to want old faces, to come in and help speed up the installation of a whole program,” Saleh said at the start of the startup mini-camp. “Everything hangs in the middle. It’s just not him.”
“[Offensive coordinator Nathaniel] Hackett has something to say about that. He loves Lazard. Randall loves. Taking Billy Turner with him to Denver, he wanted him here. Of course, you will surround the coach with people who he feels will draw the flag.
“This whole combo—what people try to put on the quarterback—it’s tiring. It’s common practice in the NFL.”

The Nick Foles era is over in Indianapolis.

He appeared in three games (two games) with Indianapolis last season, completing 25 of 42 passes for 224 yards, no touchdowns and four interceptions. The Colts lost both of their starts late in the season after cycling Matt Ryan And Sam Ellinger.

Buffalo bills
Winning streak: 10.5
Super Bowl odds: 9-1The Buffalo Bills aren’t going to be a bad football team in 2023. They’ve won at least 10 games each of the past four seasons, and they still have a dynamic dual-threat Josh Allen quarterback.
However, it’s hard to think they’ll be dramatically better than they were a year ago. Two of their biggest needs remain unmet through early free agency and the draft. Still lacking a reliable third receiver behind Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, Buffalo did little to upgrade the pass rush that sank when Von Miller suffered a torn ACL at the end of the season.
Despite playing behind a tough offensive line, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was sacked only once during the team’s round victory last year against Buffalo. Why, again, does the Bills have better odds in the Super Bowl than Cincinnati (11-1)? They shouldn’t.
And while Buffalo’s 10.5 game winning streak is no stranger, it’s important to remember how competitive the AFC East will be this season. The New England Patriots, New York Jets and Miami Dolphins each won at least seven games last season, while Miami made the playoffs. And the Jets just added four-time NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Buffalo may pull off 11 wins and claim its fourth consecutive AFC East title, but there will be attrition along the way. And until the Bills prove they can overtake the Cincinnati and Kansas City Chiefs in the postseason, they shouldn’t have the fourth-best odds to win it all.

What the signing of Donovan Smith means for the Chiefs
Lucas Niang – the 2020 Premier League third-round pick – started nine games in 2021 before being sidelined with a severe injury until the middle of the 2022 season. While he has experience on the right side, his choppy play will likely lead to him playing the best football of his life. to get a basic job. It should be noted that in the Super Bowl – when Andrew Wylie had to leave the game to play – it was Niang who came in to fill in for the game.
Wanya Morris was the Chiefs’ third-round draft pick this year — and while he brings an interesting mix of talents to the table, as I touched on in my movie review of his game, he’s still not very consistent with the starting rookie lineup.
Prince Tega-Wanogo was the team’s swing tackle last season and has seen the field minimally. It is the most likely candidate for circumcision.
Kennard has been inactive for most of 2022, and despite being an all-conference tackle at Kentucky, his path to the field will be near impossible with the bodies added by the Chiefs. I would expect him to move to guard – his most natural position – and compete for a backup role.
A tweet to make you think
If you believe Donovan Smith’s “up to $9 million” deal guarantees he’ll start in… # headsYou have to remember that in 2021 Kyle Long signed a deal worth “up to $5 million” and nothing happened.
