The NBA is always evolving and changes make the league better as a whole. Commissioner Adam Silver spoke about the league’s plans to stage a championship in the season next year. He was on NBA TV before Game 2 last night and was able to give us some details on what it’s going to look like. NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley wasn’t convinced by Adam Silver’s explanation.
Before game two last night, Barkley and the NBA TV crew were able to sit down with Commissioner Silver. They touched on a number of topics yesterday such as media rights deals and future league expansion. The topic garnering the most attention was the proposed tournament of the season.
Charles Barkley asked Silver to explain what the season’s championship would look like. It was clear that Silver and the rest of the NBA needed to iron out the details before next season.

Charles Barkley needed Adam Silver to provide an explanation of what a championship season would look like
When speaking with an NBA TV crew, Silver referred to European soccer as the “blueprint” for the in-season championship for 2023-24. The idea, he said, is to “create new games with consequences during the regular season”. Silver also mentioned how the players will wear different uniforms and said that the stadium may look different as well.
The League is trying to create a new tradition and “new traditions are not built overnight,” Syver admitted. It sure takes some getting used to for the NBA and their fans. Charles Barkley was not particularly impressed by Silver’s interpretation of the season’s heroism.
Barkley is an “old school” guy and probably wouldn’t want to see the league do that. For years now this has been in the works and the league is ready to launch it next season. There will be some mishaps along the way.
