Main Event – Driscoll vs. Lynch
With the Cage Warriors cultivating San Diego, California as their base in America, it only made sense to promote building their American brand around up-and-coming homegrown talent. Jamey Lynch, not to be confused with MMA journalist and MMA Sucka alumnus James Lynch, fits the bill as a fighter who constantly makes improvements, is adored by the local fans and never puts up in a dull fight. On Friday, he will make his seventh appearance for the Cage Warriors, holding a 4-2 record. A win over Driscoll would make it an impressive three wins in the last four matches. He fought every battle for promotion in front of a partisan crowd, and Friday night should be no different.
For Driscoll, the American Kickboxing Academy producer should be looking to use his heavyweight wrestling game plan. The Tulsa, Oklahoma native wrestled with Division I at the University of Tulsa and shares an affiliation with Division I wrestling in his home state with his very own AKA team Daniel Cormier. Driscoll is 8-1 in his last nine games, even batting Denis Paiva on DWCS via unanimous decision, though it would eventually be passed over for a contract. He then trekked across the pond to challenge the Cage Warriors Lightweight Champion George Hardwick, who was among the sport’s brightest prospects, but fell victim to a body shot in the fourth round. He’ll be looking to right the ship against Lynch, who may be vulnerable to his heavy-handed style.
The rest of the card
While Friday’s Cage Warriors card lacks star power, it should treat local San Diego fans to a slew of fun fights. Musa Diaz will take over Robert Hernandez in the co-main event at 145 pounds. After giving up his professional debut, Hernandez has since racked up six straight wins and will be looking for No. 7 against undefeated opponent in Diaz. Diaz looked like a world class player in his first four fights, but showed the ability to fight through three tough rounds against him Juan Porto In his final fight for Combate Global. His battle with Hernandez should remain impressive as long as it lasts.
Cage Warriors Chief Graham Boylan It brings in a slew of hungry fighters who hail from the UK to test out some of the mainstays of American cage warriors. Possible English flyweight Connor Wilson will take over David Lopez on the main card while two other fighters from across the pond make their professional debuts in the vanguard. Francis Kahn He will meet a fellow debutant Enrique Montalvo Also in the flyweight division, W.J Teddy Adlington Stringer15-8 amateur lightweight, will make his debut against Bryant Shell.
France my fingerthe only fighter to lose weight on Thursday, will still fight James Settle As scheduled in the bantamweight division. Will Sormin vs. Settle title prelims.
