Francis Ngannou is gone…and the UFC’s heavyweight division may never be the same.
After failing to reach terms on a new contract with the UFC, “The Predator” hit the open market before the PFL finally acquired him, with the Cameroonian player enjoying a significant salary increase, box freedom, and ownership of a set international endeavours.
A big win for Ngannou, but an even bigger loss for the UFC.
“It’s a huge loss in my mind, like his move to the PFL,” said UFC color commentator Joe Rogan. his podcast (Copied Farah Hannoun). “It bothers me. Get it. I’m glad he’s getting paid, I’m glad he’s getting paid to box, but I loved watching this guy fight in the UFC. He was a beast. He was so good, so good. It would be fun. I just don’t I know who they’re going to fight with.”
Ngannou, 36, is not expected to make his PFL debut until 2024.
After “The Predator” sailed for greener pastures, former lightweight champion Jon Jones re-emerged to claim the heavyweight crown against Cyryl Gane. However, Bones wants to retire after another fight, former champion Stipe Miocic will turn 41 in August, and Derrick Lewis is out of the top 10.
