Brendan Allen came out on top when he faced Bruno Silva at UFC Fight Night: Emmett vs Topuria live on ESPN+ From the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, June 24th. The Beaufort, South Carolina native claimed victory over his opponent from Cajazeiras, Brazil via a rear choke.
The middleweight bout was stopped by the referee at 4 minutes 39 seconds of the first round that followed the tap.
With the win, the 27-year-old Allen improved to 22-5 and earned his fifth consecutive win. He said after the fight, next year he was looking forward to challenging for the title.
The 33-year-old Silva fell to 23-9.
“I will be the next champion”
“I’m the youngest guy in the top 15 and he’s had some of the most fights,” Brendan Allen said in a post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier. “I really do, I’ve been here and I haven’t even reached the climax and I haven’t shown it all.”
“I will be the next champion. I am the only person who can threaten the actual champion [Israel Adesanya] Everywhere. With that being said, Izzy,” and the new “in 2024, I’m coming.”
In the United Kingdom and Australia, the event was broadcast live on Sunday 25 June.
