The biggest UFC flyweight rivalry in history needed four fights to come to an end, and in the end, Brandon Moreno came out on top.
The UFC flyweight champion finished his foursome with Deiveson Figueiredo earlier this year at the UFC 283 co-main event in Brazil. After three fights, where Moreno and Figueiredo went 1-1-1, and won the interim UFC flyweight belt against Kai Kara-France, Moreno stepped into enemy territory and finished Figueiredo in the third round of the contest. Figueiredo was unable to enter the fourth round due to an eye injury caused by the Mexican.
It was a big win for Moreno that cemented him as the 125-pound king. You can re-watch Moreno’s win over Figueiredo in the video above.
Moreno returns to the cage on July 8, as he defends his title against Alexander Pantoja in the UFC 290 co-main event in Las Vegas.
Moreno (21-6-2 MMA, 9-3-2 UFC) is on a winning streak. Since losing to Pantoja back in 2018, Moreno has been a 7-1-2 — a run that has seen him win the UFC flyweight title, lose it, and then regain it.
On the other hand, Pantoja (25-5 MMA, 9-3 UFC) is 6-2 since defeating Moreno. He is currently on a three-fight winning streak, with his most recent victory over Alex Perez in July 2022.
