Canelo Alvarez vs Badou Jack talks fall apart
take him Twitter accountBadu Jack revealed the terms he was given in order to fight Canelo Álvarez, which ultimately derailed the match.
I won’t fight Canelo anymore. They said the weight differential is so great they wanted to unload the old man and fight me 20lbs under the title cruiser weight limit 😂 plus the rehydration requirement.
Let’s give Canelo the fans what they want to see and fight David Benavidez– Badou Jack (BadouJack) June 17, 2023
“I’m not going to fight Canelo anymore. They said the weight difference is too big, they wanted to drain the old man and my warriors 20 pounds under the cruiser weight limit for the title. Plus the rehydration clause. Let’s give Canelo the fans what they want to see and fight David Benavidez.”
It looks like the Benavidez fight won’t happen this fall. All signs point to Canelo Alvarez returning to Showtime PPV to fight Charlo. But in the weird world of boxing, you can’t rule anything out. However, Canelo’s promoter Eddie Hearn told members of the media that he expected a Charlo fight in September.
Charlo has not fought since his title defense in June 2021 against Juan Macías Montiel. Charlo won the fight via unanimous decision to maintain his hold on the WBC Middleweight Championship. It remains to be seen if the lethargy will negatively affect him in his next fight.
As for Badou Jack, he will look for money elsewhere. The 39-year-old is riding a winning streak. Time will tell if he can get another marquee money fight before his career ends.
