LAS VEGAS (AP) — Kelsey Bloom scored 25 points and Aja Wilson added 23 points and 12 rebounds to help the Las Vegas Aces beat the Connecticut Sun 102-84 Saturday in a WNBA all-star game.
This is the eighth consecutive victory for the Aces (15-1), who avenged their only loss this season. Connecticut (12-5) was able to win that game due to a career high and franchise-record 41 points by DeWanna Bonner. Las Vegas hasn’t lost since then, thanks in large part to the play of Wilson, the league’s MVP.
She had another strong game a day after signing on Contract extension for two years.
Just like they did against New York Two days ago, Aces opened the match at the beginning of the third quarter. Las Vegas scored the first 17 points of the period to take an 11-point lead to 76-48.
The Sun finally ended the run with a Dejunay Carrington three-pointer with 4:31 left in the third quarter. Things got worse in Connecticut a minute later when Tiffany Hayes Expelled by official Claire Aubrey When the sun guard made money tags after she was called for a foul.
“They said something about doing a money sign or something. We weren’t told anything like that was an automatic eviction,” said Connecticut coach Stephanie White.
Hayes declined to comment on the play after the game.
Connecticut never recovered from the surge.
Alyssa Thomas, who scored hat-tricks in each of the previous two games and is the statistics leader with five games now in the regular season, has 12 points, 11 assists and five rebounds for China.
Bonner finished with 19 points. Both of them are also selected All-Star Reserves Saturday.
Bloom, who was the MVP of the All-Star Game last year, was also named a reserve. You helped Las Vegas start strong again with 10 points in the first quarter.
The coaches will return Saturday after two weeks of practice at the All-Star Game on July 15th. Becky Hammon would officiate the game for the second year in a row, leading Wilson’s team. White will be coaching the game for the first time when she leads Breanna Stewart’s team.
