The Big 12 is officially welcomed Four new members earlier in July With BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF joining the lineup, the conference will go the extra mile in making these four schools feel festive this football season. Announce The Big 12 Monday kicks off this fall’s “Big 12 Homecoming” tour with stops at the league’s newcomers, followed by visits by the other eight members of the following years.
The tour, described by the Big 12 as “a conference-wide celebration of the Big 12 brand,” will feature a three-day visit to each organization, each running from Thursday through Saturday of home football game week. The Thursday of each visit will focus on women’s sports at that respective school before attention turns to charity work involving a local primary school on Friday and an enhanced pre-game environment – live entertainment, giveaways and Armed Forces Bridge – on Saturday.
“We are thrilled to launch Big 12 Homecoming and kick off this celebration of our on-campus convention for our four new members,” Big 12 Chief Marketing Officer Tyrel Kirkham said in a statement. “Each of these four programs has waited years for this moment, and as a conference, we want to ensure that their arrival is commemorated and celebrated. These events will bring a new level of entertainment and excitement to the Big 12 campus.”
The schedule for stops at the Big Four newcomers during the 2023 college football season is as follows. The tour’s first season begins in Houston in mid-September and ends at BYU in mid-October. Stops for other schools in future seasons will be released at a later date.
- Houston: Sept. 14-16 (vs. TCU)
- Cincinnati: Sept. 21-23 (vs. Oklahoma)
- UCF: Sept. 28-30 (vs. Baylor)
- BYU: Oct. 19-21 (vs. Texas Tech)
The four newcomers from The Big 12 will receive First taste of life in the Big 12 Wednesday and Thursday when the annual convention descends in Arlington, Texas 12 big informative day. Their first year of membership in the Big 12 will be their last for pioneers Oklahoma and Texas, who both leave for the SEC in the summer of 2024.
