Top ranked contender Beniel Dariusz says he “plans to take down” former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira at UFC 289.
He was supposed to fight Dariush Oliveira last month at UFC 288, but the fight was delayed by a month due to an undisclosed injury to Oliveira. Now that he’s ready to go, “Do Bronx” and Dariush will lock horns in the co-main event of UFC 289 next month, with the winner of this pivotal lightweight bout potentially claiming a title shot.
Before the fight Darius spoke MMAjunkie.com He was asked how he sees the battle going on. The gladiator ace knows Oliveira is a powerful foe, but is convinced he’ll be able to dominate the fight and put on a show.
“The focus of this fight is to be perfect. Personally, the way I see it is Domination. I plan on dominating this fight. I want to remind people because I think my last fight was kind of close. … The fight is going to be Absolute Domination, that’s what it’s going to be like.” I’ll do what I set out to do, and there’s nothing he can do to stop him,” Dariush said.
Dariush won eight fights in a row, while Oliveira had a long winning streak last year when he lost his belt to Islam Makhachev. Now these two top-ranked fighters will meet with a potential 155-pound title contender at the line. Dariusz and Oliveira are two of the best fighters in the world in their weight class, so the winner of this bout will be more than worthy of a crack in the belt. Even though it’s the co-main event of UFC 289, for many fans and the media, this is actually the most important fight on the card.
Who do you think wins the all-important UFC 289 lightweight bout between Benel Dariusz and Charles Oliveira?
