Canada boasts one of the largest pools of players in the NBA. One of them is Benedict Mathurin of the Indiana Pacers.
He was recently asked by ESPN’s Ken Bateman if he plans to represent his country at this year’s FIBA World Cup. Canada will start the tournament in Group H alongside France, Latvia and Lebanon.
“It will be an honor to play for my country,” said the 20-year-old shooting guard. “I think for me now I’m trying to develop as a player. I’m trying to develop my game and take my game to the next level. So I feel like it’s in the air now if I make the decision to play. Like I said, it would be an honor to play for my country.”
Mathurin averaged 16.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 28.5 minutes per game during his rookie year at Indiana.
