MMA junkie On Thursday, the organization heads to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on August 11. The event at Sanford Pentagon, currently billed as Bellator 298, will feature locally as the main attraction. Over the course of five rounds, Welterwillet will knock Logan Storley (14-2) and Brennan Ward (17-6). The only other fight currently agreed upon for the show is a featherweight scrap pitting Akhmed Magomedov (9-1) against Kai Kamaka III (11-5-1), according to his Twitter account. Bellator district. Since then the news of this event has been confirmed before
other outlets.
Despite being born in Rosslyn and fighting outside of Webster, Storley’s match in Sioux Falls—about 150 miles away—would count as a home game. The NCAA wrestling superstar from the University of Minnesota has competed in this building five times in the past, including twice with Bellator, and is perfect on those five outings. Sturley was last knocked out by a decision by Yaroslav Amosov at Bellator 291 in February, where he attempted to unify the interim welterweight belt with the belt. This loss put an end to a three-way win streak that saw “the Storm” get three decisions over Dante Shero, Neiman Gracie and Michael Page – the last of those three for the interim crown.
Former Bellator middleweight title challenger Ward moved up to 170 pounds several years ago, but he has had several weight contests at 175 pounds or more. After taking two fight stops in 2017, Ward left the sport claiming retirement. Although he flirted with naked boxing, “Irish Brennan” overcame drug addiction to get sober. Ward returned to the promotion in 2022, and has since ousted Brandon Bell, Cassius Cain and Sabah Houmassi in the space of about a year. As a pro, Ward’s finish rate is a perfect 94%, which significantly beats Storley’s 57%.
