Arman Tsarukyan finally received his next assignment to the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Tsarukyan (19-3, 6-2 UFC) was attached to a bout with Renato Carneiro scheduled for the UFC on ESPN 45 card on April 29 before “Moicano” pulled out due to an injury. The alternate opponent didn’t materialize in time for that event, but on Tuesday,
ESPN It reported that Tsarukyan and Joaquim Silva will clash in a UFC lightweight showdown on ESPN 47 on June 17. The match was then confirmed by Team Silva on their social media accounts.
The recently resurgent Tsarukyan debuted in December, a dominant unanimous decision win over Damir Ismagulov that allowed him to recover from a loss at the hands of former K-League champion Mateusz Gamrot at the UFC title on ESPN 38. Prior to that, the “Ahalkalakets” had built a five-game winning streak with victories over Joel Alvarez and Matt Frivola, among others. Tsarukyan’s only other loss under the UFC banner came against current lightweight leader Islam Makhachev.
Silva (12-3, 5-3 UFC) is looking for some continuity in his career and building momentum after his second-round stoppage over Jesse Ronson at UFC Fight Night 211 in October. The defeat led to a two-bout skid against Ricky Glenn and Nasra Haqbrast. In all, “Netto BJJ”’s age is 2-3 in his last five matches.
UFC on ESPN 47 will descend on the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, on June 17. Headlining the event is an intriguing fight featuring former 185-pound title challenger Marvin Vettori against Jared Cannonier. Muslim Salikoff and middleweight Nicholas Dalby are also expected to clash on the same night.
