Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo came out and revealed the franchise’s long-term plan.
Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo addressed the media today to discuss their strategy and the future of the franchise.
Meruelo made the decision to put an end to the transfer rumors for the time being as they were spreading like wildfire from Houston to Quebec and maybe 4 or 5 other locations.
Meruelo has stressed his intent to stay in Arizona, where the Wolves’ future is still not entirely certain. In Phoenix, Glendale, and Tempe, the Coyotes already had venues there or had plans for it, but each time those plans fell through.
There are a few potential locations Coyotes can call home in Arizona, and Scottsdale, Mesa, and Tuscon are three excellent choices.
All of them are larger than Tempe, which may provide a larger fan base and prevent the Wolves from having to move. Time is running out because the Coyotes’ contract with Mullett Arena expires in 2026, so the wish was expressed.
