Apes Hill, a new luxury golf resort in Barbados, is set to unveil a series of new stay and play options this winter.
The spacious three-bedroom golf course and seafront villas, each with a private garden and 30-foot pool, will be available for vacation rentals from January. Each two-story villa sleeps up to six guests, and is enhanced by expansive ocean views, sitting within walking distance of the full range of facilities on Apes Hill, as well as being less than ten minutes from some of the island’s most beautiful beaches on both the east and coasts. western.
The collection of villas overlooks the iconic course, lovingly designed by legendary architect Ron Kirby. Its par-72 design takes advantage of some of the finest views of the island across the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean, winding through native vegetation, native forest bollards and coral rocks to craft a distinctly Barbadian experience.
Completing Kirby’s design will be a nine-hole short course – set to open later this year – featuring replicas of some of the sport’s three most famous holes. Meanwhile, the “19th Hole”—inspired by the famous putting green at TPC Sawgrass—would be the perfect bonus challenge to settle a round on either layout. “The 20th Hole” is the resort’s halfway house, offering refreshments to players as they take in the scenic views.
Away from the fairways, Apes Hill boasts one of the most complete golf offerings in the world, including a state-of-the-art clubhouse and restaurant. The recently opened Performance Center is packed with the latest technology and designed to develop every aspect of a golfer’s game alongside experienced and qualified instructors.
Resort guests can also enjoy a range of integrated lifestyle amenities from next year, with a paddle complex that includes tennis, padel, nature trails for walking and cycling, as well as a range of customized wellness treatments that include personal training, boot camps, and yoga and Pilates sessions.
“Our new stay and play experiences will be ideal for visitors to Barbados who want to experience a private lifestyle here at Apes Hill Barbados,” said Gayle Talma, General Manager, Apes Hill Resort Inc.. Our 18-hole golf course opened late in the year. Past and wonderfully received, and with other developments such as our short course and 19th hole, not to mention a number of off-course amenities and an exciting real estate development, we believe Apes Hill Barbados will soon be recognized as a premium golf and lifestyle location in the Caribbean. And golf at Apes Hill is a casually luxurious experience, with a private pool and stunning ocean views that are perfect for both families and small golf groups.”
Barbados has been enduringly popular as a holiday destination for golfers and non-golfers alike, with regular flights from the island to several UK airports. Known for its stunning landscapes and unique culture, guests looking to explore the island between tours of the Apes Hill Trail offer endless possibilities.
Already a popular spot for golfers on the island, Apes Hill Barbados has been transformed since 2019 by the investment of Canadian businessman Glenn Chamandi. After commissioning Kirby to elevate the original course into one of the best in the Caribbean, the work continued with such respected figures as Kirby and golf academy designer Tim Koshall to build a world-class range of sporting facilities.
