Anderson Silva is not done with mixed martial arts yet.
“The Spider” discussed the possibility shortly after the movie’s premiere “Murder City” which launched on Friday and features a team that includes the former UFC middleweight champ. In an interview with a Brazilian outlet
Combate.comSilva revealed that his MMA farewell match in Japan is in the works.
We have a proposal and we are negotiating with Japan. “There will definitely be something great for the fans,” Silva said. “I can’t give spoilers. But what we’re actually negotiating in terms of MMA is my last fight in Japan. Because it’s all about it, I started my international career, winning my first world title in Shooto. I think it’s about everything to finish my career in Japan.”
The most dominant middleweight champion in UFC middleweight history also discussed the current state of the division. He disagrees with Alex Pereira’s decision to leave the weight class after losing the belt in his rematch against Israel Adesanya at UFC 281 last April. Pereira will make his light heavyweight debut against Jan Blachovic at UFC 291.
“From my point of view, the strategy he used to get up to light heavyweight was a bit wrong,” said Silva. “I think he should have stayed in his band, got the belt back, and then kept it [the title] And in the future, she switched to light heavyweight.
“But he has his own business strategy with his manager. But Alex is a great friend, a guy who deserves all the best, and he has huge potential to become a huge UFC star and continue to bring such joy to the Brazilian people.”
