Interim UFC Featherweight Champion Yair Rodriguez will be looking to tip the 145-pound apple cart when he clashes with The King of the Reign and Venom Alex Volkanovski at UFC 290’s upcoming pay-per-view (PPV) event. Loaded this Saturday. Night (July 8, 2023) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
And he brings a little Mexican flair to the “Sin City” headline.
Not too shabby.
Rodriguez (15-3, 1 NC) grabbed the alternate bar on the same UFC 284 fight card that featured Volkanovski (unsuccessfully) to challenge Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title. “El Pantera” eliminated veteran kicker Josh Emmett with a second-round triangle delivery for his second straight victory.
Eugene Barman, the Australian’s head coach, said in a recent interview with FTS MMA (via MMA junkie). “Obviously you have the time to deal with him, but you have a unique style of hitting, just as Yair breaks the rhythm and the way he does things is a bit unorthodox.”
