New York Liberty’s three-game road trip last week included multiple bus trips, two planes and three airports on the way from Connecticut to Las Vegas. The Associated Press traveled with Liberty on their 13-hour flight to Las Vegas for Game 2 of the trip. Here’s a look at the itinerary (all times east):
Monday:
– 12:30 p.m. Thirty-three people board buses in New York to the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, for Tuesday night’s game against the Sun.
– 4:00 PM, the Liberty Battalion arrives at Maheghan.
Tuesday:
– 11 a.m. The team engages in a shooting game to prepare for Tuesday night’s game.
– 7 p.m. game against Connecticut tips.
– 9 p.m. The game ends against Connecticut with New York Achievement of 89-81 Win the first game of the road trip.
Wednesday:
6:30 a.m. Players drop off their bags in the lobby of a Connecticut hotel to be sent to the airport for a flight to Las Vegas.
– 6:45 a.m. The Liberty Operations crew loads the bus and heads to Hartford Airport.
– 8:15 a.m. Players board the bus for the one-hour ride to the airport.
– At 11 am the flight leaves Hartford for Atlanta.
– At 1pm the flight lands in Atlanta and players have a 40-minute window to get food before the flight departs.
– 2:00 PM Connecting flight departs Atlanta for Las Vegas.
– 6 p.m. The team arrives in Las Vegas and the operations staff waits on the bus to load luggage while the players take another bus to the team hotel.
7:30 p.m. The team checks into their hotel in Las Vegas.
Thursday:
– 2 p.m. The team fires up to get ready for the Las Vegas game.
– At 10 pm, a match against the aces.
– 12 a.m. The second game of the road trip ends, Liberty loses 98-81 to the aces.
