Greater Manchester Police said the professional footballer who has been arrested for sex offenses with multiple children will face no further action.
The player was first arrested in July 2021 and immediately suspended by his Premier League team. Since then he left this club.
However, he would face no further action because the evidence presented in the case did not meet the limit “set out in the Crown Prosecutors Act”.
A GMP spokesperson said: “The 33-year-old man arrested in connection with an investigation opened in June 2021 will not face further action.
“The investigative team and the Crown Prosecution Service have been working together and have reached the determination that the evidence available at this time does not reach the minimum set out in the Crown Prosecutors Act.”
“Greater Manchester Police are committed to investigating allegations to ensure the best possible outcome for all involved and will continue to work with partner agencies to ensure individuals are supported throughout investigations and beyond.”
For legal reasons in the UK, the player cannot be named in this situation.
