Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors turned out the lights on Thursday, shutting out the Los Angeles Lakers 127-100 to even the Western Conference semifinal series at one game apiece.
Thompson stood out in Game 2, finishing with 30 points while shooting 11-of-18 from the floor and 8-of-11 from three-point range.
Thompson scored eight times in a postseason game for the sixth time in his career, more than any other player in NBA history.
After a brutal five-point loss in Game 1, which saw Anthony Davis dominate, the Warriors looked like a well-oiled machine going into Game 2. Golden State held Davis to just 11 points and they produced a dominant effort on the other end of the floor.
Everyone participated in Golden State on Thursday. The Warriors’ scoring assists are 38 of 48 baskets while shooting 50 percent from the field and the three-point line.
Along with Thompson, Steve Curry was a problem for the Lakers in Game 2.
Curry pulled out a team-high 12 assists—three shy of the playoff high—and made 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting. He nailed 3 of 5 attempts from outside the arc, including a crazy triple to end the third quarter that had Papa Curry nodding in the stands .
Like the Warriors prior to Game 2, the Lakers will now have to regroup as the best-of-seven series now moves to Staples Center in Los Angeles for Games 3 and 4. Los Angeles will host Golden State for Game 3 on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
