The former storied rivals will become teammates for the Warriors next season.
After Golden State She reportedly took possession of Chris Paul In a trade with the Washington Wizards on Thursday, the veteran guard will join old Western Conference rivals Steve Curry and Klay Thompson.
Speaking to reporters during a media release Tuesday ahead of the duo’s matchup with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelsey in “The Game” Thursday, Thompson was asked what he thought of the teaming with Paul.
“Anytime you play with a player who is one of the best players of your generation, it’s an honor. It’s a little strange because we’ve had so many fights in the past with Chris and he’s captained so many teams that we’ve almost knocked us out or stopped us completely in 2014. I think it will just add such a calming presence and the component of leadership that we need. I know Steve and him have a long history together from North Carolina. For me it will be a smooth transition playing with such a passer and playmaker, I’m just excited.” (h/t Anthony Slater Athlete)
Paul, who previously played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder and Phoenix Suns, has faced the Warriors for years, including 20 combined appearances in the playoffs.
