Harry Hole looked like he was about to fade into the background of Charles Schwab’s tournament after back-to-back doubles early in the third round turned the night leader by 3 into the chaser. However, almost everyone struggled on a difficult colonial Saturday.
The PGA Tour rookie settled for the final nine holes, coming home at 2-under 33 for a share of the lead heading into the final round for the first time in his PGA Tour career.
He was joined at number one by 10-year-old Adam Schenck, who putt a 16-foot-18 to join the last group on Sunday. Also in the mix were Harris English’s third single at the ninth, and Victor Hovland, who posted a run of 66 to reach five under.
