The Cowboys have options last place on their training camp roster — Shane Taylor, an inside star
Before camp began, the Dallas Cowboys had a few options for what to do with their available roster spot. Here are some of the directions they can choose.
running back
As I looked around at what other people thought of the team, I ran into an interesting idea of who Ovarian reportChristopher Knox. He said he thinks Dallas should look back on the former Washington leaders running back JD McKissic et al. behind Tony PollardDallas Malik DavisAnd Ronald JonesAnd Rico Doodleand my favourite Duos Phone.
Vaughn will likely win the reserve spot, but let’s give him some time. They can sign him cheap and cut him if he doesn’t do anything in the next two months. McKissic had his best year in 2020, finishing with 365 rushing yards and 589 receiving yards, and totaled 609 yards from scrimmage in 2021, but a problem with his neck kept him out for almost all of 2022.
Dalvin Cook He’s still around, I strongly believe he’s waiting for the best possible spot to drop back and take a 15-20 and hold a game before he gets signed. It probably won’t be cheap either.
offensive tackle
I’m not sold on the Cowboys’ offensive tackles. This may be my biggest concern in 2023. It wouldn’t be a bad idea for them to add an expert tackle to the list. Tyrone Smith He is expected to return, but how long will he last? Just being honest.
Terrence Steele He missed the last four matches due to a tear in the AFC Champions League last season and may take some time off. Men like Taylor Lewan and George Fant W Jason Peters He played a big role in Dallas last year. He appeared in 10 games. was required.
Dallas will need to add someone at some point. I hope I’m wrong, but it happens year after year, look, I love this Cowboys team. They are loaded almost everywhere around the ball; Adding depth when things happen in season never hurts. The team has plenty of space, and most of these players you can get for cheap, so what’s the harm?
How did Tony Pollard achieve the success of the RB1? — Staff, Dallascowboys.com
The Dallas Cowboys authors answer one of the most pressing questions regarding the 2023 Cowboys season.
Patrick Walker: Next season will mark the first time in Pollard’s football career that he’s seen as an asset again, and while he does have the chops to get the job done, it will be interesting to see exactly how he gets it done. He will inevitably be tasked with doing more of his dirty work, including pass protection, along with feeling the heat in the A-B gap probably more than ever. I think it’s less about how, and more about the look of his sturdiness when the volume knob is cranked in his reps.
Nick Harris: Being a free return over the past few seasons has served Tony Pollard very well, but there’s an added responsibility when you’re the guy at the top of the depth chart. In addition to retaining his great playing abilities in both the rushing and receiving game, Pollard will need to be reliable in short yard situations and in pass protection to be the all-around running back Dallas needs. Statistically, I feel like the sky is the limit for Pollard with a new offensive scheme combined with him being the man now. The real success for the Memphis product would be 1,200 scrimmage yards and 15 touchdowns in his first season as a starter
Will the Cowboys sign JD McKissic help Tony Pollard? – Mike Fisher, Sports Illustrated
To lighten Tony Pollard’s burden, the Cowboys might consider signing a familiar foe.
Quintet of backs who line up on the depth chart behind Tony Pollard can, Once training camp begins in Oxnard, wither. or slouch. or vanish. or fail. or get hurt. And so the signing suggestions from outside The-Star keep coming, from Ezekiel Elliott to Kareem Hunt to Leonard Fournette to Cordarrelle Patterson to Kenyon Drake. To… Adrian Peterson?! (Oh, and Dalvin Cook. But we’ve explained 26 million reasons why that wouldn’t work in Dallas.)
This time around the focus shifts to former Washington leaders running back J.D. Makisic…and we admit his occasional outbursts as a versatile weapon deserve some intrigue. But… considering he’s still a lower-tier free agent, why aren’t any teams “fascinated”? In Washington, the main reason they didn’t invite him back is because the leaders think they have four better home runs than he does.
So what is the attraction about in men’s eyes Ovarian report? It seems they, even as they push the idea, aren’t quite sure. They note that McKissic is a “career best in almost every category”…but add that those numbers (365 yards and 589 yards) came in 2020. Not that he hit 609 yards from scrimmage in 2021 in Washington, where his speed made him a contributor .
Where things could go wrong for the Dallas Cowboys in 2023 – Tom Ryle, Blogs for the Boys
Here are some doomsday scenarios for 2023.
Dakota is waiting
Duck Prescott Polarized. The national media makes things even worse for him, as controversial performances know full well that throwing shade at the Cowboys quarterback leads to big ratings. Unfortunately, the fact that the team didn’t make it out of the divisional round with him as a quarterback provides ample fuel for the fire. The assumption for many fans is that his problems with last season’s turnover should be rectifiable, which he and the coaches are on top of. His high interception rate last year has been explained by his having to risk unfavorable touchdown and distance situations to try to extend the drive.
Until now, he tended to come back from things like that. The concern is that they don’t go away forever. Offensive success this year depends more on Prescott’s performance than any other individual. If he’s not right, it’s going to be a long, long season.
Wide receiver mode
The Cowboys struggled to give Prescott enough quality receivers on the field, but a planned starting trio of CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, and Michael Gallup seemed to solve that.
Well, this is a kind of savings. The Chef trade was well received, but he is a player at the back of his career. He had a sabbatical in 2022. The issue is that he’s been playing very ineffective players, but we have to be very careful about expecting him to bounce back to the 1,000-plus-yard receiver he’s been for most of his career. If he falters with Dallas, he’ll obviously reduce the position.
Michael Gallup also had a bad season last year. He was slowly recovering from his injury in late 2021, never getting to 100%. It is assumed he will bounce back, but that has yet to be proven on the field.
It may not go badly in this department for the Cowboys, but that’s still an assumption. If Gallup or Cooks have a bump, that’s a problem. If they both have issues, we’ll likely see the offense struggle with one good WR on the field.
