This season, Kyrie Irving is looking to settle down. The 31-year-old star asked for a trade last season and ended up with the Mavericks. Dallas All-Star duo Luka Doncic and Irving didn’t play a role in their planning. Team owner Mark Cuban said the team wants to bring Irving back. Kerry was quoted as saying he was looking for “a place where he could spend the rest of his career”.
He exercised his player option last season with the Brooklyn Nets before he was traded. This offseason, the 2016 NBA champion is a free agent. League sources said Irving could be eligible for a five-year, $272 million maximum contract with the Mavericks.
If Irving leaves the Mavericks this offseason, he will be headed to his fourth team in the past six seasons. This is not how the PG star wants to end his career.

Kyrie Irving is looking for stability at this point in his career
After being traded from the Nets, Kyrie Irving played 20 games for the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavericks went 8-12 in those 20 games they played, and would miss the postseason. In the 16 games Luka Doncic and Irving have played together, the Mavs have gone 5-11.
Despite the difficult end to the season, Dallas is confident Irving wants to stay. Mark Cuban said Irving told him he was “happy here”. ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski said the chances of the Mavericks keeping Irving are very high.
The cross-league market for Irving, he said, is very limited. Wojnarowski said the Mavericks are the only legitimate option Irving could get this summer. With free agency starting tomorrow at 6:00 PM EST, we’ll have to see what Dallas does about signing Irving.
